Hungary: Workers' Memorial Day Activities 2006

[MSZOSZ] Hungarian Trade Unions to Hold National 28 April Conference

MSZOSZ: The National Confederation of Hungarian Trade Unions is planning a major national conference with the theme, "Commemorating and Looking Forward" for 28 April, International Commemoration Day. High leveldiscussions with all social partners will consider the competencies, tasks, responsibilities of the workplace parties and other players to promote occupational safety and health, with the emphasis on trade unions and workers themselves.

Special attention at this Conference will be given to methods for ensuring that standards and rules are actually put into practice, with the latest developments concerning work-related stress and asbestos coming high on the agendal. Finally, a report on the experiences of Hungarian trade unions working through the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (Bilbao
Agency) will be presented. Strong media coverage will ensure that the issues discussed in the Conference are made public.
