Lithuanian Trade Unionists Plan Health & Safety Conference for 28 April

LTUCCE: The Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation has joined with another ICFTU affiliate, the Lithuanian Trade Union Solidarumas, as well as the WCL affiliate Lithuanian Labour Federation to organise a major conference as a way of commemorating dead and injured workers on 28 April.

The conference will also serve as an opportunity for leaders in both of the country’s major international labour centres to begin working together in advance of the merger planned for their organizations this Fall.

The 28 April Conference will feature presentations on worker safety and security law and practice, as well as discussions with representatives of employers and state institutions on how to improve working conditions and prevent injuries at workplaces. Presentations will be made by the Lithuanian representative of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, the Chief Inspector of the State Labour Inspection, as well as employers' and union representatives. A mass for dead and injured workers will be held on the morning of 28 April in the Vilnius cathedral.
